St. Peter's Episcopal Church

Sharing the love of Jesus;

Caring for All

Dear Family and Friends of St. Peter's,

I'm very glad that we have had a chance to gather for corporate worship over the last several weeks.  We have reached a point to make the decision to suspend in-person worship for the next few weeks.  We've done well in following our protocols and discovered a few protocols that we will help decrease health risks.

The bishop has given agency to congregations with approved protocols to make local determinations about ongoing worship.  For the next few weeks we will pre-record our worship and broadcast through YouTube, Facebook, and St. Peter's website.  This broadcast will include more music.

In consultation with our Sr. Warden and Dcn Carol I offer this insight to our decision process:

Our decision is based  primarily on the spikes in infections in the recent three weeks.

The active case increases were dramatic, relative to the decline that we had seen over the previous 5-6 weeks.

Also the percentage of our infected population has reached 1% for the first time. Last week we saw a drop in infections. Though it was a decrease in infections from the previous week, it was still a relatively large number for our region.

These figures coupled with the governor's mask directive has given me pause.  We have seen a decrease in fatalities and hospitalizations which I hope continues.  We track two sources of information that we graph and evaluate weekly.

I hope that we see these active case numbers and fatalities reduce. These factors will help us reengage in corporate worship.

To be clear our worship services will be pre-recorded with some additional music. Therefore we will not be holding in person worship at the church right now.   We will continue with our virtual services and other events.  They can be viewed by going to Streaming Worship on the Menu bar.

Blessings,

Fr. Stephen+
