Visual Arts

St. Peter's is known for its cultural events in the Washington County community.  Besides our outstanding music program, we also offer events and activities for all ages in visual arts.

St. Peter's Art Show & Sale

The St. Peter's Art Show & Sale celebrates its tenth anniversity in 2018.  It occurs annualy on the first Friday and Saturday in November. The show brings about 30 artists not only from Brenham area but also Houston, Austin, Kerrville and other cities. There is a free reception open to the public on Friday evening from 5:00 -8:00.  It includes a silent auction with work from each artist donated.  Proceeds of the silent auction are donated to a charitable organization in Brenham. The show and sale continues on Saturday from 10:00 - 3:00.  Most years the work of the artists includes paintings, ceramics, jewelry, gourd art, photography and found art.

If you are an artist and are interested in participating in this year's show which will be held November 2 and 3 this year contact Carol Muegge at carol@stpetersbrenham.org.  Attendance of the show over the course of the two days usually averages 300 people.

Art in the Church

There are several paintings and other art work around the St. Peter's campus.  Most especially are the egg shell icons made by one of our parishioners, Jeff Terrell.  Among other icons he produced, he spent countless hours creating ones depicting the 14 stations of the cross.

Stained Glass Windows

There are 12 stained glass windows in the church that run along each side of the outside walls.  There are also 6 round windows that are above the altar area.  A rose window is visible from inside and outside the church high up in the balcony.  These windows date to the 1880's.  A few other tall stain glass windows were added when the current church was built in 1965.

Creative Arts Camp

Each summer around the third week in June around 50 children attend our annual Creative Arts Camp.  This half-day camp gives these children a chance to express their creative abilities in a Christian atmosphere. Qualified teachers help the campers in drawing, painting, ceramics, dance, food art and crafts.  Ages completing kindergarten through sixth grade can attend.
